Documents required
- Completed visa application form, signed by the applicant
- Passport issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months after the departure date, with two blank pages, plus a copy of the data page
- Copies of Bulgarian visas and previous Schengen visas, if any
- Recent colour passport photo, 35×45 mm (no older than 6 months)
- Valid travel medical insurance for Schengen countries for the entire stay, with a minimum of 30,000 euros, covering emergency treatment, repatriation and death
- Return travel ticket booking
- Hotel booking or proof of accommodation
- Proof of financial means (recent bank statement stamped by the bank)
- Letter from the employer or commercial register, or a sponsorship with a declaration of bearing the expenses

How to apply from Egypt
- Contact the consular section of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Cairo to schedule an appointment (Consular.Cairo@mfa.bg, phone +20 2 273 630 25)
- Prepare the form and documents
- Submit the application in person at the embassy: 6 Al-Malek Al-Afdal Street, Zamalek, Cairo. Visa days (according to the embassy website): Sunday and Wednesday, 9:30–12:30
- Pay the fees and give biometric fingerprints
- Collect the passport from the embassy once the decision is issued
