1. A passport issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months after the visa expires, with two blank pages and signed, along with copies of all pages used and old passports
2. Electronic VIDEX form (videx.diplo.de) printed and personally signed, plus the signed questionnaire
3. Recent biometric photo (within 6 months) with a white or light grey background, not digitally modified
4. Travel medical insurance valid in all Schengen countries for the entire stay, with coverage of at least 30,000 euros and no exceptions
5. Travel history certificate from the Mogamma covering the last 7 years for those over 16 who have never travelled to the Schengen area before or who have lost their passport (not required if there are previous Schengen, US, Canadian or British visas)
6. Hotel booking with reservation number, or a formal commitment letter (Verpflichtungserklärung) or invitation signed by the host with a copy of their passport and residence permit
7. Return flight booking and itinerary
8. Translated family record (for proof of family relationship)
9. For employees: a translated employment letter stating job, length of service, monthly salary, approved leave and social security number, with the company's bank statement (for private sector employees)
10. Personal bank statement stamped for the last 6 months (no published minimum), with savings certificates or assets if available
11. For business owners: commercial register and translated tax card, plus the company's bank statement for the last 6 months
12. For students: proof of enrolment; for retirees: pension certificate
13. For minors: notarised parental consent
14. Certified translation into German or English of all Arabic documents (except the Mogamma certificate)

1. Register on the TLScontact website for Germany in Egypt, book an appointment and pay the service fee online or via Fawry
2. Fill in the VIDEX form electronically and print it
3. Attend the TLScontact centre in Cairo in person (Sheikh Zayed centre – Capital Business Park, 6 October) to submit the file and provide fingerprints (exempt if taken within the last 4 years)
4. Apply at least 4 weeks before travel and no more than 6 months before
5. Collect the passport from the centre after the decision is issued
